The mission of this site is to bring awareness to slavery's impact on our modern-day lives. While the passage of time can make us feel detached from the institution, many normalized aspects of American society have deep ties to slavery. This site not only explores direct connections to slavery but the indirect legacies as well, such as systemic racism and redlining. Additionally, I strive to use language that emphasizes the humanity within slavery— "slaves" were "enslaved people," and not just numbers.
All of the information on this site was derived from research, which can be found in the Resources section.
